A drop cap (dropped capital) is a large capital letter used as a decorative element at the beginning of a paragraph or section.
The size of a drop cap is usually two or more lines. You can format your document in a newspaper-style column layout by adding columns. On the Layout tab, click Columns, then click the layout you want.
To apply columns to only part of your document, with your cursor, select the text that you want to format.
